As Slashdot mentions:
People from Bits of Freedom registered websites with 10 different providers and used it to publish public domain material (from an author who died over 100 years ago).
Afterwards, they set up a fake society that claimed to have the rights on that exact material. They sent complaints to all 10 providers from a hotmail address.
Unbelievable: 7 out of the 10 complied and removed the material, one (iFast) even forwarded all the personal details of the site owner to this society - without being asked to do so and of course without asking the owner.
The 3 who didn't remove the page are UPC, Freeler and XS4ALL.
